The way names of wine work is that for some of them, they can only be legitimately called by a certain name if it’s from that region in the world. So I believe the term Prosecco is protected and that’s why sometimes it will be named sparkling wine and also same with champagne. Similar with alcohol….the same kind of thing happens between bourbon and whisky -Think “Kentucky bourbon” they really make a big deal out of the names and rightfully so because of the terroir/climate/soil/conditions 🤓
