Billionaire Boys Club, Doodles to Team on Pop-up 
Pharrell Williams is bringing together two of his brands for a pop-up experience. Williams’ Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream brands are joining forces with NFT project Doodles for “Doodle Beach,” a pop-up experience this weekend during Williams’ Something within the Water festival. The festival takes place within the multihyphenate’s hometown of Virginia Beach and is supposed as a celebration of the town’s culture. The brands are teaming up on an apparel collection to be sold through the pop-up. In the summertime of 2020, Sesali Bowen was working on her memoir Bad Fat Black Girl: Notes from a Trap Feminist. As she reflected on her experiences growing up in what she calls “the bad b-tch era,” she realized that while queer and female rappers were having a moment in Hip-Hop, there have been no podcasts to capture it. So Bowen went in regards to the business of making one. She reached out to Pierre Phipps, one half of the rap duo Freaky Boiz, to assist her co-host and the show, Purse First, launched that following January.  The phrase comes from a Black colloquialism which Bowen believes originated from street-based, sex work culture. Oscar Grant’s Mom And Wellness Experts Offer Suggestions On
For the primary time, ESSENCE Festival of Culture held spaces for Black men and boys, offering thought-provoking conversations about them. Wellness House drew several men to the “Joy Sanctuary” on Friday afternoon for a panel discussion on raising Black males, loving them and what it could be wish to grieve them. The moderator was radio personality Maria More, the host of the Wellness House conversations and a mother to sons. Panelists included Rev. Wanda Johnson, the mother of Oscar Grant, who was shot and killed while unarmed in 2009 by a transportation officer in Oakland’s Fruitvale Station.
