Where Are All of the Women Designers? They Are

There's loads to unpack in The Met’s latest Costume Institute exhibition “Women Dressing Women,” and it’s not only the creations of generations of female designers. While there is no such thing as a shortage of striking and sometimes au courant designs, there are also boundary-shifting garments and juxtapositions that magnify topics beyond legacy, sexism and history. If visitors don’t just glide through the galleries and stop to read the detailed wall text, they may leave with much to think about and debate. The 2023 CFDA Awards: A-list Celebrities, Designers, a Few

The style industry’s obsession with celebrities was on full display Monday night on the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards presented by Amazon Fashion. Crowding into the Hall of Ocean Life on the American Museum of Natural History were A-listers including Serena Williams, Mary J. Blige, Gwyneth Paltrow, Demi Moore, Martha Stewart, Jenna Lyons, Kim Kardashian, Jordan Roth, Coco Rocha, Ashley Graham, Chloë Sevigny, Jane Krakowski, Cynthia Erivo, Madelyn Cline, Molly Ringwald and Anne Hathaway, the host of the evening’s festivities. Stan Herman Dishes About Designers, Recent Book

Many years after most individuals would have called it quits within the working world, Stan Herman remains to be in the sport. The 95-year-old designer will rejoice the discharge of his memoir, “Uncross Your Legs, a Life in Fashion,” Tuesday night at Rizzoli’s Recent York City store. A compilation of collages, sketches, photographs and sometimes dishy details in regards to the American fashion industry, the Pointed Leaf-published tome is an encyclopedia of sorts, albeit from one man’s standpoint. Except for being the industry’s unofficial historian, Herman served because the president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America for a record 16 years. Shanghai Designers Tackle Difficult Market With Creative Drive

SHANGHAI — Local designers need to stay positive and look for brand spanking new opportunities amid China‘s economic slowdown. The spring 2024 edition of Shanghai Fashion Week wrapped Monday, with greater than 100 brands showcasing their latest collections to local buyers.
