MILAN – Is Gucci set for one more textbook reinvention? Time will tell, but on Saturday morning, Gucci  and parent company Kering took the industry by surprise, naming Sabato De Sarno the Italian brand’s latest creative director. His first show for the brand will bow in September. EXCLUSIVE: Christian Wijnants Becomes Artistic Director at Maison Ullens
PARIS — Belgian luxury fashion house Maison Ullens has named Christian Wijnants artistic director because it gears up for a latest phase of expansion. The Belgian designer, known for his expertise in knitwear, will make his debut for the label with a fall 2023 collection that will likely be presented to buyers in Brussels from Feb. 1 to three and to press in the course of the Paris women’s shows, the brand said in an announcement provided exclusively to WWD. PARIS — Ludovic de Saint Sernin, the designer known for his sensual, gender-fluid creations, has been named creative director of Ann Demeulemeester, signaling a recent creative direction for the home owned by Italian retailer Claudio Antonioli. PARIS — Because the Institut Français de la Mode continues on its trajectory to “the world’s best fashion school,” executive director Sylvie Ebel has been distinguished for fighting the great fight for greater than 30 years. On Thursday, the education executive received the Légion d’honneur, France’s highest distinction, during a ceremony at the varsity’s campus. Sidney Toledano, the chairman and chief executive officer of LVMH Fashion Group and president of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, bestowed the rank of Chevalier (or knight) upon Ebel.
