Sephora’s First Recent U.K. Store is in West London

Sephora is planting its flag in London’s Westfield shopping mall because it makes its brick-and-mortar return to the U.K. Confirming a previous report by WWD, Sephora, a part of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, said it can open its first location within the U.K. since 2005 within the White City-located mall in West London in March. The world has undergone a metamorphosis in recent times, with the nearby former BBC Television Center was a swanky SoHo House complete with a rooftop pool. Other tenants at Westfield London include Apple, Coach, Gucci, Boots, Jimmy Choo, Aesop, Tommy Hilfiger, Kiehl’s and Mulberry. Bluemercury Unveils Recent Store Format in Recent Canaan

After offering them to customers because the late ’90s, Bluemercury’s store in tony Recent Canaan, Conn., has had its own makeover. The Macy’s-owned beauty chain revealed a latest design and retail format on the reopening of the shop that it has had since 2012, shaking up its previous approach to merchandising at that location.  Anchoring the brilliant and airy location is a latest center bar, the bottom of which is painted a dark navy blue shade, contrasting with the remainder of the white-on-white store. Glossier Plans Williamsburg Store – WWD

Glossier is heading to Brooklyn. While the Emily Weiss-founded beauty business recently announced that's entering Sephora, it has not given up by itself stores and plans to open a location on the cross section of North sixth Street and Wythe Street in Williamsburg, WWD has learned. A Glossier representative confirmed plans for a Williamsburg store this fall, but declined to supply any more details. Aesop Opens First Mainland China Store In Downtown Shanghai

SHANGHAI — For its first brick-and-mortar retail store in mainland China, Aesop picked a leafy serpentine street called Dongping Road in the previous French Concession of downtown Shanghai. Aesop’s in-house design team spent almost a 12 months fine-tuning the shop. The 2-story, 3,230-square-foot space touts a homey ambience with locally sourced materials that “pays homage to Chinese craftsmanship,” in response to the brand. Sleek basins that take center stage at the shop are made with Guizhou travertine stone, which local artisans sculpted. A ceiling cushioned by a wheat-straw installation handwoven by Chinese artist Didi Wu evokes local handicraft traditions still utilized within the Shanghai region.
