Bottega Veneta Unveils Latest Footwear Atelier
BEST FOOT FORWARD: Bottega Veneta has opened a recent footwear atelier in Vigonza, between Padua and Venice, within the Riviera del Brenta, a storied Italian shoe production district. The façade of the constructing is made with dark metal panels paying homage to the brand’s distinctive Intrecciato leather weaving. Covering almost 59,000 square feet over three floors, the atelier houses offices, meeting and break rooms, a canteen, and an expansive terrace. Each Bottega Veneta shoe will now be realized – from the design, development, research, quality control, prototyping, and final production stages – under the identical roof in Vigonza. British Fashion Council Unveils Recent, Community-focused Strategy
LONDON — The British Fashion Council on Friday unveiled a latest strategy, vowing to generate “responsible growth, relentless innovation, and the worldwide and native amplification of the British fashion industry.” David Pemsel, who succeeded Stephanie Phair last October as chair of the BFC, revealed the trade organization’s post-pandemic plans in a letter to BFC members and stakeholders. “Our mission is to champion British fashion as a creative force on the world stage. GRAND TOUR: As is his wont, Jacquemus has taken to Instagram to unveil Portofino, Italy, because the third stop in his summerlong series of pop-ups — and tease that his next destination could also be France. This time, Simone Porte Jacquemus is establishing shop on the Via Calata Marconi menswear outpost of Italian multibrand retailer Modes, which counts some 22 stores across Italy, France and Switzerland. Set right on the cobbled quay, the shop features light wood furniture and vaulted brick ceilings contrasting with the geometric lighted displays. SHANGHAI — Alibaba released its first earnings report since revealing in March that the corporate can be split into six business units. The Hangzhou-based e-commerce giant revealed on Thursday that revenue for the fourth quarter ended March 31 had increased by 2 percent year-over-year to 208.2 billion renminbi, or $30.3 billion, falling in need of analysts’ expectations. Throughout the quarter, net income reached 23.5 billion renminbi, or $3.4 billion, with adjusted profits rising by 38 percent year-over-year to 27.4 billion renminbi, or $3.98 billion. For the fiscal yr ending March 31, revenue gained 2 percent year-over-year, reaching 868.68 billion renminbi, or $126.49 billion.
