This Hall of Fame inducted marketing executive, creator and entrepreneur is a real renaissance woman. Through her repeatedly expanding platform, she serves as a primary example of how you can speak your truth, live intentionally and find joy after losing a loved one. Though we could probably write a book of the explanation why she’s considered one of our favourite badass Black women, we narrowed it right down to 4 based on her unforgettable fireside chat with ESSENCE Chief of Staff Barkue Tubman on the 2022 ESSENCE Festival Beauty Carnival.

1. She wrote a book called “The Urgent Life: My story of affection, loss and survival” and it’s available for pre-order now.
   Bozoma Saint John’s life was flipped the wrong way up when her husband was diagnosed with cancer. In her upcoming book The Urgent Life, the marketing executive shares her vivid story of navigating grief after she concurrently became a widow and single parent, all while constructing an award-winning profession and deciding to pursue her truest passions and purpose, urgently. 2. She has an internet workshop called The Badass Workshop to kick your profession and private life into gear.

Saint John has a star-studded resume. Before becoming her own boss, she led marketing for major firms like Apple, PepsiCo, Uber and Netflix. She began her marketing profession at Spike Lee’s ad agency, SpikeDDB and has continued making waves within the marketing and promoting industry ever since.
