Or you could use a chopstick or a pencil or just a stick but if you want to look apathetic yeah the hair stick is a good option anyways here is a recipe for brownies
Ingredients
• ½ cup (1 stick) butter
• 1 cup sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• ⅓ cup cocoa powder
• ½ cup all-purpose flour
• ¼ tsp salt
• ¼ tsp baking powder (optional, for slightly cakier brownies)
Optional add-ins: chocolate chips, walnuts, Oreos 👀
⸻
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8 pan.
2. Melt the butter (microwave or stovetop). Let it cool a bit.
3. Mix butter + sugar until combined.
4. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
5. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined (don’t overmix).
6. Fold in any add-ins if using.
7. Pour batter into pan and spread evenly.
8. Bake 20–25 minutes (toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs).
9. Let cool (if you can wait 😭), then cut and enjoy.
Thank chattyg for this delight

I don't know about "gentler". Its always painful on my scalp
@aibei_5315
by the way, this won't work for everyone. Asian hair is typically thinner and finer, as well as longer. (There are exceptions) It won't work if you have too many layers (that are short) or short hair. There are different styles, and this is not the only way to use it.

IDK if my bun is just too tight but it's equal in terms of being "tight" and leading to damage. Safest option might be claw clips but those are apparently dangerous when driving as the claws could puncture in case of impact.

@miyaswaaaa
btw… it's not the only way to use… and we can use 2-4 stick for thick hair but only problem is it can be heavy so headache is no surprise but once you get habitual you can never feel same with bands

Then you remember you're white and a hair stick is cultural appropriation and the PC police will come for you. Sigh and pick up the disgusting hairband. Do the thing and watch Orientals be effortlessly beautiful while simmering in jealousy.

I really like hair sticks because elastic bands snap on me. My hair is really thick and reaches my knees now. If you use this method the stick either needs to be super strong or really tight. Instead, wrap the hair around your hand and hold, wrap the rest of the hair around that loop. Once it's all wrapped, spread the loop around so most of your hair is tucked in the center of the loop and insert the stick over one side, under the center and over the other side of the loop. It doesn't need to be as tight and holds longer hair much better because the weight is more spread out. Also, don't buy cheap hair sticks.
@emro164
I need a tutorial from someone with hip-length hair and a tender scalp because its really confusing to translate these tutorials when you have to girue out how to put so much hair into these pins, and accidentally putting a stick through a snarl (texture is wavy and tangle-prone) can be painful.
@MandylamMandy
Guys Chinese girls actually only do this at chinses new year or special events if not they don't use those for no reason so they usually don't wear hair ties so they just keep the hair down or sometimes up and just curl it and l'm from china so l know ❤❤
