On the worst, they're symbols of hate and might incite fear and trigger trauma. Whatever the use, like language and culture, flags are a significant aspect to any group of individuals’s identity. Given the history of Black people in United States—ascending from chattel slavery to free Americans—the journey to establishing an identity for ourselves has been laborious.
