This photo book contrasts the human body with ‘hyper-natural’
Collaboration sits at the guts of the creative world. When artists bring together their talent, a special alchemy can occur. This was the case for make-up artist Thomas de Kluyver and photographer Zoë Ghertner’s recent book, already past and already again there. Created meticulously over the course of three years, the book presents a free-flowing series of images that explore the human body inside each the natural and ‘hyper-natural’ worlds. After first meeting on the set of a shoot nine years ago, the 2 creatives bonded over their shared artistic understanding and have since built up a definite language which they dropped at already past and already again there. “Zoë and I even have something quite symbiotic after we work together,...

The Lip Bar Launches HBCU-Inspired Lip Glosses Just In
Courtesy of The Lip Bar The thrill around back-to-school beauty—from 5 a.m. skincare routines and skilled first day makeup to controversial 30-inch wigs—has hit an all-time high. That’s why we want to emphasise proper education, especially in terms of what we placed on our skin and hair.  For example, I used to be so concerned with putting the most recent foundation product on my skin within the 2010s, and it wasn’t until my early 20s that I spotted the importance of wearing sunscreen. Growing up within the South, SPF...

Motherland: This exhibition is a playful celebration of pubic

Motherland: This exhibition is a playful celebration of pubic
At the guts of Motherland, a recent exhibition in Paris which opened last night, is a playful and celebratory approach to the topic of pubic hair – women’s, particularly – that could be very much lacking in most cultural discussion. Across a series of images, models’ pubes are braided, dyed, bedazzled and styled. There’s cotton candy-coloured pubes tied into twin ponytails, pubes fashioned into flames, a rhinestone Marie from The Aristocats. They're daring images, but all the time fun, and done with a way of humour that brings the ladies in on the joke, slightly than making them the butt of it, as is so often the case with a subject still treated with discomfort, if not outright disgust, by...
