Jennifer Guttenberg, the mother of 14-year-old Parkland victim Jaime Guttenberg, admonished Nikolas Cruz for wearing a COVID mask during his sentencing hearing, telling him it was ‘disrespectful to be hiding your expressions under a mask’ when the families are addressing him. Cruz then took his mask off for the rest of the hearing, but remained emotionless.
Minutes later, Judge Elizabeth Scherer handed down 34 consecutive life sentences — one each for the people he murdered and the 17 he wounded — for the Feb. 14, 2018, massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

I feel like outside of his initial arrest, i haven’t heard him say anything.
One thing I’d like to know more about is why he removed his mask. I understand the mother told him it’s disrespectful(and it is, she’s right) but I wonder about the motive behind it.
Is he a tiny bit remorseful and just can’t show it? And decided to remove the mask to try and show respect? Or did it do it to prove something else?
I just wonder what he’s thinking. If anything..
