100% agreed. I was shocked she said this as to reinforce the negative connotation. That needs to be addressed immediately but the reality is, these are the hidden thoughts of many. Her low self-confidence is evident and this was an opportunity to defy the narrative she was brought up to believe and stand up! It’s now going into 2024.
I understand the culture explanations but there’s ZERO excuse. She actually said, “I came out with dark hair and skin”.. and she still “kinda” doesn’t feel beautiful. WOW.

Wow Eva is gorgeous without the makeup too! I am also latina and the only mom at my kids school who wears full make up every day. But I have acne scars and disappearing eyebrows, lol. Back to Eva- I’m loving that she’s a director. And so happy to hear that she doesn’t let the typical racism in a Latine family get to her! Often our elders (especially) are obsessed with the the light skin blue eyes preference. I hope the BLM movement is helping this process for us.
