Hurricane Ian hit like an atom bomb
Consuming the helpless in it's path.
The waters of the deep surged forth
Flooding everything with it's wrath.
The best of the brave was seen by man
While rescue crews were helping others.
They risked their life and laid it on the line
To save our sisters and brothers.
May heaven show mercy upon the lost
Never to love, laugh, sing or cry
God bless every man, woman and child
Who before their time had to die.
Tears are the raindrops of the soul
Shed by all who cry
Though the eyes are wet and swollen
With time and patience they dry.

Its kind of confusing why some people stayed when there were warnings to evacuate? Would having a contingency plan in place not be something that every resident in these annual hurricane prone areas, have in place? So sad if people lost their lives or their animals because they decided to try to ride out the storm. Here's hoping that the death count will not add to this already devasting event and destruction of property.
