I'm naturally a dark blonde and have been dyeing my hair a very dark brown (appears black without a lot of direct light hitting it) and I love it! It's definitely a commitment, but I have short hair anyway so I figured if I really want to go back to my natural colour, growing it out wouldn't be too much trouble.

I use to dye my hair black I liked it but as soon as my brown roots would grow out it would look so ugly so I constantly needed to do my roots. When I go blonde or a color like pink or blue, I don’t mind my roots growing out for some reason, just doesn’t look as bad.

You need to commit to the lightening process if you're going to do all these colors. You don't get your roots light enough. Do it in a warm room and paint it on thick in small sections. Use Olaplex!

In my experience, I have found that light, bright colors (in my case, green) look better on more tanned skin. Even though the color starts to fade, there is still enough contrast between the hair and face.
and I, as a person who loves to wear bright things, did not encounter the problem of styling my bright head with clothes 🙂

Totally agree for ash blonde, especially if the natural hair is very dark.
I got (or tried to get, because it kept yellowing into more of a bleach blonde) ash blonde highlights in the lower half of my shoulder length hair…. Having naturally dark hair, like the darkest brown you can imagine, the struggle was real.
Yes, the hair stylist completely fried my hair (took like 9 hours to de-colourise, in a single sitting????)
Yes, the maintenance it demanded made me cry sometimes, because of how barbie like my hair felt to touch.
Yes, I had to invest wayy too much time, energy and money for products and hair routines like hair masks, and olaplex…
Would I repeat it? I'm actually sooo tempted to ???? But this time around, I actually have personal experience on how big a commitment it is, so it'll be really great if I can just get a wig for it… But I have no clue how to wear a wig, and not enough courage to wear it outside, lol. We'll see????

I've done split dies a few times (a bubblegum pink/bubblegum blue one with extremely short hair, and then a green/black split die with somewhat longer hair) and the green/black one faded quite strangely, I'm not sure how or why but it ended up fading to a pastel-ish green and then a light cyan. I don't know how the black faded to blue, but it still looked quite good

I agree with the spilt 2 color hair dye. I did white and black which eventually turned into blue and black and the amount of bleach that a person has to use on a monthly basis just to keep up with the look and to achieve the look It's kind of terrifying and working with bleach is also quite difficult cuz it's almost like playing with Russian roulette every time you put it on your hair. I was not a fan of the split dye either because if you don't keep up with the dye and you don't style it on a daily basis it does makes a person look quite crazy or at least mentally unstable.. But I did like the overall positive comments that I got from other people about my hair which does make me miss having that hairstyle but just like you said in the video I will not be revisiting split hair dye color ever. But it was nice while it lasted.

My hair was more of a mix dye than a split dye. But a few months ago I tried to paint my hair mint and purple, Maddie style. The colours fade extremely quickly, and a month later I had this weird mint hair with white highlights. I never regret it. Because it showed me what a wrong colour could do with your hair. At the start of the month, I had this Maddie Hatter hairstyle, in the middle it got light mint-blonde, then light brown, that ended up like a “poop” colour, and finally medium brown (my natural colour). And all of this in just 2 months.
Guys. Please try anything that passes your mind, you are not going to regret it. If it comes out bad, at least you tried.

14:17 can confirm bc I had a blue-black color for a school dance one time bc it complimented the dress I was wearing. Hair dye tends to wash out of my hair quickly so I thought it would be gone two or three weeks later if I washed w/ shampoo and conditioner every night. Nope, it stayed for about 2 months with very little washed out.

I really appreciate what you said about split dye, but I’d keep in mind that sometimes it works. I had a black/red split, and it worked because this was at a time in my life when I wore pretty much only red, black, dark blue, and white. But I really noticed that upkeep was SUPER difficult. I went to dark blue pretty quickly. Like… a month later.

I've done split dye twice. Once it bled together, and the other time I didn't have to sorry about styling bc my hair is so short. I also went with blonde and a light ginger brown. So if you don't style your hair, then it's fun. Been thinking about doing green and brown during summer on my buzz cut.

stella cini or anyone watching this in the future (ie after she released this video), part of the reason i go to a salon for color is because my hair is a dark brown natural (idk what level) and i know i'll mess up my hair whether it's actually bleaching or dying, i will screw it up. my hair is so dark not even a dark purple showed up (and it was the darkest purple i could find.) this was the ONE time i dyed at home…it didn't show because my hair was and kinda still is that dark. I go to a salon because ik that whatever happens to my hair is done by someone who STUDIED hair. My hair currently is split dye. Half is my natural brown, the other a red/pink (it's faded so the top bit of my hair is pink and the underside is still a dark red). i find it better for you to just go to a salon for color unless you're confident enough to do it yourself
