Kim Kardashian finally addresses anorexia comments controversy

Back in July 2018 queen of controversy Kim Kardashian found herself in hot water after posting an Instagram story during which she appeared to have fun being called “really skinny” and “anorexic” by sisters Kim and Khloe.

“I don’t think you’re eating…such as you look so skinny,” Kendall will be heard saying. To which Kim responds with a delightedly high-pitched squeal “Whaaat?!”….Oh my god, thanks!”

“Your hair extensions, your ass, your tits, all the pieces, they’re heavy, cause she’s f*cking voluptuous,” adds Khloe. “But she’s anorexic here, her arms are like pin thin, they’re like my pinky.”

“I’m right down to 119 lbs,” says Kim. “Once I take out my hair extensions I’m less.”

Actress Emmy Rossum took to Instagram to specific her outrage by posting “@iamstephbeatz, the one time I used to be 119 kilos is once I had MONO. On a magazine shoot everyone was ‘freaking out over how good’ I looked. I had lost 10 kilos and was gaunt and sick and felt faint… It totally messed with my head. I like you and I’m with you.”

Having remained silent up until now, Kim finally addressed the problem on Tuesday on model and body image activist Ashley Graham’s recent podcast Pretty Big Deal, during which she told the host:

“Looking back and having said that, I a hundred percent understand why people would feel that way. So my intention isn’t to offend anyone and I actually, you understand, apologize if I offended anyone. Because an eating disorder is…I do know people who have serious eating disorders which have been out and in of the hospital for 15 years — close people. So I’ve like, been through…I even have experienced it enough to have, like, known higher.”

This just isn’t the primary time Kim has come under fire for her actions. Only a number of months ago, the star was widely criticised for publicly endorsing weight loss program lollipops, causing British presenter Jameela Jamil to brand her “a terrible and toxic influence on young girls”. Indeed, with over 100 million followers on Instagram, Kim’s influence is unparalleled – something that was cemented when she was named “Influencer of the Year” by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CDFA). Though normally she uses her influence to embolden her fans to have fun their bodies and embrace their flaws. Speaking out on International Women’s Day in 2016 Kim wrote: “I’m empowered by my body…I’m empowered by showing the world my flaws and never being afraid of what anyone goes to say about me. And I hope that through this platform I even have been given, I can encourage the identical empowerment for women and girls everywhere in the world.” More of this, please Kim.
