Lila Moss on her best beauty advice and favourite

Lila Moss on her best beauty advice and favourite

Dazed catches up with the newly announced YSL Beauty ambassador

Whether it’s Sophie Dahl’s seminal – if controversial – campaign for Opium, or Lil Nas X bringing his own signature brand of camp to the brand, Yves Saint Laurent Beauty has an extended and wealthy history of working with famous faces. Now joining the roster – which also includes Barbie Ferriera, Troya Sivan and former Dazed cover star Indya Moore – is Lila Moss, who was announced today as the most recent US ambassador for the home. “YSL Beauty is all about expressing who you might be, being super authentic and feeling confident,” Moss tells Dazed. “That’s directly in keeping with how I feel about make-up. So it was the right fit.”

For Moss, the most effective approach to beauty is about being as real as possible (“you don’t must be anyone else but you,” as she puts it). As a part of her ambassador duties, Moss will probably be featured within the brand’s biggest campaigns – including its Lash Clash Mascara and Rouge Volupté Candy Glaze Lip Gloss. This will not be her first time fronting a beauty brand, though: in 2018, she made her modelling debut as the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty, leading campaigns that included the brand’s fragrance, Perfect

Here, Moss answers some quickfire questions on her make-up obsessions and the most effective beauty advice she has.

What was the primary YSL Beauty product that you simply used?

Lila Moss: Touche Éclat was actually the primary concealer I owned.

What’s your holy grail YSL Beauty product?

Lila Moss: Straight away, I’m obsessive about the Lash Clash Mascara, it’s my favourite mascara… it makes my lashes look amazing.

What does beauty mean to you?

Lila Moss: Beauty is about feeling confident and expressing who you might be. Everyone seems to be unique and different, and makeup should help convey that.

What’s your current obsession?

Lila Moss: I’m currently obsessive about glossy lips. Especially now with winter – I’ve been wearing Candy Glaze in #2, it’s like a balm with a touch of color and plenty of shine.

Who’s your beauty icon?

Lila Moss: My mum, in fact. She’s taught me all the pieces I learn about make-up.

Describe your beauty aesthetic in three words.

Lila Moss: Natural, classic, and fresh.

What’s the most effective beauty advice you might have ever received?

Lila Moss: Stay true to yourself and don’t be afraid to have a good time.
