Los Angeles and London-based multi-disciplinary artist, Mahaneela, has signed with Partizan for exclusive representation. Her addition to the roster continues Partizan’s commitment to representing emerging filmmakers from unique backgrounds. With an in depth body of labor that is already captivated audiences worldwide, Mahaneela is poised to turn out to be some of the impactful voices shaping today’s cultural conversation through authentic storytelling on the intersection of identity and creativity.
Coming from a protracted lineage of visual and musical artists on each side of her family, her work takes inspiration from her multi-cultural background and the storytelling of diasporic history across South Asia, the Caribbean, and Africa.
In June 2022, she was named as one in all five mentors in Google’s Image Equity fellowship, in partnership with non-profit organisation Free The Work and artist collective For Freedoms. This 12 months, Mahaneela was named as one in all Forbes 30 Under 30 ground-breaking creatives & entrepreneurs in entertainment. Her work also toured as a part of Aperture’s “The New Black Vanguard” exhibition, curated by Antwaun Sargeant.
Acting as director and still photographer, she has told stories for a few of the most influential brands on the planet: Nike, Google, Apple, Meta, and more. The identical goes for the music world where she has worked with distinguished record labels XL Recordings, Young Turks, and Sony Music. Along with her filmmaking forays, she has been commissioned to photograph myriad artists including The xx, FKA Twigs, Steve Lacy, and Grammy Award winning artist Wizkid.
Her work has been featured in each music & fashion magazines including I-D Magazine, The Fader, Schon Magazine, and Dazed.

In her personal work, Mahaneela focuses on intimate portraiture and movies that explore the experiences of individuals of color internationally, documenting cultures across music, youth, and the diaspora. She hopes to supply a latest vision, one which is shiny, beautiful and authentic. Mahaneela’s acclaimed latest short film BUMPED, presented by BBC Movies, is due for imminent release.
