Ralph Lauren to Offer Scholarship to Marist Fashion Student

Ralph Lauren is extending its commitment to the following generation of fashion students.

The corporate is establishing a recent design scholarship program at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, Latest York, that may award a fashion student $100,000 in scholarship funds over 4 years.

The Ralph Lauren Design Scholars Program is meant to offer opportunity and access for underrepresented design students at the school starting with the 2024-25 academic yr.

The applicants are chosen by fashion faculty and staff and should have a high GPA and display a necessity for financial assistance.

Along with the scholarship, the scholar will receive mentorship and development opportunities as a part of the summer internship program held at Ralph Lauren’s corporate offices.

This program builds on a previous collaboration between Marist and Ralph Lauren that allowed underrepresented highschool students to take pre-college classes at Marist’s Poughkeepsie campus. 4 Latest York City highschool students received full scholarships to attend the classes in the course of the summer months.

“This pledge from one in all the world’s most influential fashion firms will give a recent student every year a singular and invaluable opportunity,” said designer John Bartlett, who serves as fashion program director at Marist. “Marist’s fashion program has established a national fame for providing students with cutting-edge, hands-on learning experiences and convenient access and profession connections to the worldwide fashion hub of Latest York City.”

“Diversity and inclusivity aren’t only essential values, but also they are essential for driving innovation and progress,” said Dr. Edward Antonio, vp of diversity, equity and inclusion at Marist. “This scholarship opportunity represents two essential things — access to a Marist education and a major step toward making a more equitable and diverse fashion industry. We’re thrilled to supply this chance to students facing financial barriers.”

Marist’s fashion program, inside the School of Communication and the Arts, prepares students for a big selection of fashion careers, including merchandising, product development, retailing, operations, fashion promotion and event production.
