I have only used braids 3 times with different styles each time. The last time was with crochet braids and it was a really bad experience and loss a LOT of volume! Would love to try again but so nervous, may try knotless braids next time.

I noticed in my late teens that my hair hated braids. I’ve always told people that no matter how well I moisturized my hair prior to, my hair would just break off with braids. People have always looked at me crazy lol.
I also think the synthetic chemicals were causing a reaction on my scalp as well.
I haven’t had braids in a good 8+ years. I prolly will only get them in the future for a trip somewhere tropical. But would take it out as soon as I get home lol

My hair responded so well to braids back in the 80s, 90s, when I used to get human hair bundles from Asian merchants on 125th st., NYC. My hair isn't as happy with the synthetic hair.
Wish I could get human hair bundles for braiding again, it was so versatile with washing and rollers sets and longer use.

When I first started using the 3 bunch pack of X-Pression braiding hair, which is what the braided switched over to, when my hair was braided with this, my scalp was in a ITCH FIT. I couldn't sleep, I scratched all night, all day. I called the braided and she said that I was probably sensitive to the hair, and to give it a few days while oiling my scalp, and by the grace of God, in about 2 days it got easier and easier then it was better, no itching. You talk about getting close to taking down a 1 dag braid style…I was ready, but I actually kept the braids for, I wanna say…a few weeks. I vowed NO MORE OF "THAT" HAIR!
