SuperOrdinary Raises $58 Million in a Series B Round

Beauty distributor and most recently brand incubator SuperOrdinary has raised $58 million in a Series B fundraising round, bringing the corporate’s valuation to greater than $800 million.

The corporate, which makes a speciality of distribution in China in addition to on Amazon and TikTok, attracted investors including Manzanita, Alliance Consumer Growth and Demira GateUpper90 to the round, while founder and chief executive officer Julian Reis also participated.

In 2021, it received a minority investment from Alliance Consumer Growth and existing investor, the Puig family.

The proceeds from this round will help bolster Amazon account management and brand protection and creator monetization via social commerce, based on Reis. Particularly, it’ll proceed to rent more engineers and beef up its livestreaming capabilities because it sees many opportunities in the expansion of TikTok Shop.

“We’re thrilled to announce the closing of our Series B round and share our latest valuation, which brings us near one in all our day-one goals; becoming a unicorn company,” he said.

“Despite the present market challenges within the U.S. and China, we now have continued to prove our worth to brands across the globe, helping them scale via international expansion, creator economy partnerships and Amazon growth, and we’re excited to proceed accelerating brands across a mess of channels in consequence of this recent funding.”

Next 12 months, SuperOrdinary expects to grow by greater than 50 percent and reach $350 million in revenue, bringing the corporate to profitability.

It launched in 2018 as a worldwide growth partner facilitating international expansion for private care brands. Since then, the corporate has expanded its services to be inclusive of Amazon management for brands similar to Farmacy, Olaplex, Sabon, NuFace and Biossance and brand and creator partnerships.

In 2021, it launched Lula, its first brand, and bought a majority stake in skincare brand Joanna Vargas for an undisclosed amount.

It has also made minority investments in Violette_FR and Good Light.
