Inside The forty fifth Annual Outstanding Mother Awards –
The forty fifth Annual Outstanding Mother Awards took place Thursday at The Pierre hotel in Latest York, honoring three women executives who've balanced motherhood with constructing impactful careers, despite structural barriers for working women. The 2023 honorees were: Tracey Travis, executive vice chairman and chief financial officer of the Estée Lauder Cos.; Elizabeth Buchanan, chief business officer of e-commerce solutions platform, Rokt, and Monica Arnaudo, chief merchandising officer at Ulta Beauty. Hosted by the National Mother’s Day Committee, the event raised greater than $800,000 for Save the Children. Miami Fashion Week Postpones Annual Event Until Mid-November
Miami Fashion Week, recognized because the second-largest fashion week within the U.S., which is often scheduled for May, has been postponed until mid-November with a slew of latest programming. The event highlights resort collections of established and emerging international designers. Led by honorary president Antonio Banderas, the annual fashion event features runway shows, a beneficiary gala, after parties and pop-up events. Miami Fashion Week has been working closely with Miami-Dade County since last January to create a more community-focused event that prioritizes moving fashion forward in South Florida. The Fifteen Percent Pledge gala returned to the Latest York Public Library on Saturday night. Just like last 12 months’s inaugural event, the dress code — “Black Tie, Black Designer” — encouraged fashion insiders and industry leaders to point out their support for Black-owned brands as they toasted the evening’s honorees and grant award winners. Brother Vellies creative director Aurora James launched the Fifteen Percent Pledge initiative in 2020 with the goal of getting retailers to commit 15 percent of their purchasing power to Black-owned businesses. The event honored Bethann Hardison, whose documentary “Invisible Beauty” premiered at Sundance last month, with the Pioneer Award.
