Christofle x Karl Lagerfeld Rare Flatware Set Being Auctioned

Need a piece of Karl Lagerfeld for the dinner table? How about 24 pieces? Lagerfeld was a longtime collector of Christofle, the silver specialists, as evidenced by quite a few pieces featured in his estate sales at Sotheby’s in 2021. In 2018, shortly before his death, the designer had collaborated with Christofle on the brand’s signature Mood silverware set, imbuing the distinctive egg-shaped case and flatware with a graphic, Art Deco-inspired pattern rendered in mirror-polished silver and glossy black lacquer. Just one,500 pieces were created — 1,000 with a stainless-steel case and just 500 in black lacquer — and all sold out upon their release. Arthur McGee Designs to Be Auctioned in March

SALE SET TO GO: Property from the groundbreaking dressmaker Arthur McGee will go under the gavel at Hindman Auctions in mid-March. In 1957, McGee became the primary African American designer to run a Seventh Avenue design studio — Bobbie Brooks — doing so on the age of 24. Largely unheralded during his profession, McGee, who died in 2019, helped pave the way in which for other African American designers like Willi Smith, Stephen Burrows, Scott Barrie, Jeffrey Banks and B. Princess Diana’s Iconic Purple Dress to Be Auctioned at Sotheby’s

A tulip-shaped, aubergine velvet strapless gown worn by the late Diana, Princess of Wales, in a royal portrait alongside the-then Prince of Wales in 1991, and which later appeared in a Vanity Fair shoot in 1997, can be sold during a Sotheby’s auction in Recent York on Jan. 27. With an estimated value between $80,000 and $120,000, the dress, designed by Victor Edelstein, was previously sold for $24,150 as a part of the 1997 auction that comprised 80 dresses from Princess Diana’s personal collection to learn the AIDS Crisis Trust and the Royal Marsden Hospital Cancer Fund.
