PARIS — L Catterton has taken a minority stake in Maria Nil, with a view to step up the Swedish sustainable skilled hair care brand’s growth and international expansion. L Catterton, the private equity firm backed by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, said it made the investment of a “significant minority stake” through its European fund. Specific financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed. Hair care — a high-potential beauty category — may be very much within the sites of investors today. Maria Nila, based in Stockholm, produces wholly vegan and climate-compensated hair care products. John Demsey Joins L Catterton as Senior Advisor –
L Catterton looks to be eyeing prestige beauty with the appointment of John Demsey as senior adviser. While no official announcement was made, Demsey is listed on the investment firm’s site as a senior adviser. A representative for L Catterton declined to comment, while Demsey didn't not reply to request for comment. Demsey was most recently an executive group president on the Estée Lauder Cos., overseeing a few of its key brands, including MAC, Estée Lauder, Tom Ford Beauty and Clinique. L Catterton is betting once more on the founders of Tula Skincare. The private equity firm has just made a “significant” growth investment in color cosmetics brand Dibs Beauty, launched in September 2021 by Tula Skincare founders Ken Landis (who also cofounded Bobbi Brown Cosmetics) and Dan Reich, with Austin, Texas-based influencer Courtney Shields and former chief operating officer of A-Rod Corp Jeff Lee. Terms of the transaction weren't disclosed. “L Catterton has the expertise and agility to assist us turn into the leader in multifunctional, effortless makeup,” said Lee, chief executive officer of Dibs. “Our makeup goes where our customers go, and we intend to fulfill them each across our rapidly expanding digital channels and in brick-and-mortar retailers.” Shields added: “The explanation this...
