British Beauty Council Launches Recent Theme, Census and Membership

LONDON — On Wednesday morning, the British Beauty Council gathered a crowd of beauty enthusiasts at The Petersham — including celebrity hairstylist Sam McKnight, makeup artist Ruby Hammer and directors of beauty agencies and firms — to unveil “A Beauty Industry That Looks Like You,” the theme for the 12 months. The council is putting together a beauty census that kicks off at the tip of the month to vary the perception around working in beauty. The research project will reach everyone from salon shop floors to industry giants similar to L’Oréal and Estée Lauder. Personal Care Products Council Names Thomas F. Myers CEO

The Personal Care Products Council on Wednesday appointed Thomas F. Myers chief executive officer. The appointment will go into effect in January. Myers, who has been with the council since 2010, acts as executive vice chairman for legal and regulatory affairs and general counsel. Prior to joining the council, he worked at the USA Chamber of Commerce as a regulatory counsel for environment and energy, in addition to in international law. Myers will succeed Lezlee Westine, who has led the council as president and CEO since 2009. Under Westine’s leadership, the PCPC has hosted industry summits, published sustainability reports and most recently, pushed for the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act, which is able to require brands to be more transparent...

Exclusive: Syky Partners with British Fashion Council on Collective Incubator

Luxury digital fashion platform Syky could have just hit the scene in January, but is already aiming to redefine it by joining forces with the British Fashion Council for a recent incubator program, Syky Collective. A Tuesday announcement revealing the inaugural cohort of 10 digital fashion designers merely mentioned the BFC as a mentor, in an inventory that included Jonathan Bottomley, Calvin Klein’s chief marketing officer, Red DAO’s Megan Kaspar, Vogue creative editorial director Mark Guiducci, Frosty creative director Sabine Le Marchand and writer and Metaverse expert Matthew Ball. British Fashion Council Unveils Recent, Community-focused Strategy

LONDON — The British Fashion Council on Friday unveiled a latest strategy, vowing to generate “responsible growth, relentless innovation, and the worldwide and native amplification of the British fashion industry.” David Pemsel, who succeeded Stephanie Phair last October as chair of the BFC, revealed the trade organization’s post-pandemic plans in a letter to BFC members and stakeholders. “Our mission is to champion British fashion as a creative force on the world stage.
