LONDON — Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner made quite the doorway on the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. He stepped onto center court carrying a custom Gucci duffel bag featuring the home’s signature GG monogram with a green and red web stripe along along with his white Head tennis bag. His initials J.S. were marked against where the straps connect on brown leather. Fashion School Leaders Express Concern Over Supreme Court Affirmative

The U.S. Supreme Court decision Thursday to determine latest limits on affirmative motion programs, essentially ending the consideration of race in college admissions, caused concern amongst fashion design school leaders. In its ruling, the justices determined that Harvard and University of North Carolina’s admissions programs violated the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. An opinion written by Chief Justice John Roberts noted that at Harvard, each application is screened by a “first reader,” who assigns a numerical rating in each of six categories: academic, extracurricular, athletic, school support, personal, and overall, and the primary reader can and does consider the applicant’s race. U.K. Court to Issue Wind Up Order for London

LONDON – The Vampire’s Wife, a fashion brand known for its flowing sharp-shouldered dresses and gothic charm, is ready to be placed into receivership by the British courts next month. An organization statement confirmed that U.K. Revenue and Customs officials have issued a winding-up order for the corporate, with a court date set for July 12. A winding up order is issued when a British court decides that an organization cannot pay its debts. An officer of the court, or receiver, is then put accountable for winding up the corporate. The officer freezes an organization’s bank accounts and sells its assets. Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Photographer in Dispute

CONTENT MATTERS: The much watched Supreme Court copyright case between established photographer Lynn Goldsmith and the Andy Warhol Foundation has swung in her favor. Thursday’s decision was hashed out over the image that Goldsmith took of the late musician Prince that was used for the premise of a silkscreen series by the Pop artist Andy Warhol. With a vote of 7-2, the court determined that Warhol’s images couldn't fall under “fair use” in copyright law. Many creatives in numerous fields were keeping a detailed eye on the proceedings.
