Latest York Designer Ties Mental Health Initiatives to Fashion Show

As an advocate to assist those facing mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders, Alexandra Nyman is using fashion as a part of her crusade. The designer behind the LadyCat label is gearing up for the second installment of Break Free NYFW, a gaggle fashion show designed to boost awareness and support mental health initiatives.   The runway show will likely be held Feb. 11 during Latest York Fashion Week at Daylight Studios at 450 West 31st Street. Geared for consumers, tickets range from $15 to $100 and attendance is anticipated to be about 350 to 400 people. Designer Peyman Umay Lands Atop the Empire State 

LOOK, UP IN THE SKY: For the designer Peyman Umay, a touristy trip to the Empire State Constructing along with his father led to a latest peak in his profession: designing the uniforms for staffers there. Those that trek to the highest of the Art Deco constructing will see his four-piece creations on its Observatory hosts. The redesign is an element of a $165 million overhaul of the Observatory Experience. To mark the occasion, the Turkish-born designer, who can be an American citizen, attended a kickoff event Tuesday atop the 1,454-foot skyscraper. Inventive Designer Secures Times Square Exposure

Many designers toil away for years to be able to afford Times Square promoting, however the little-known label Amehl is making a splash there in an unusual way. The corporate’s founder Amanda Mehl, who's an interdisciplinary artiist, filmmaker and designer, crafted a movie that can play through the top of this month outside of 10 Times Square. Titled, “There Is No ‘I’ in Team,” the short features 50 characters modeling looks from the Mehl collection. Mehl acted in, directed and shot the two-minute clip in her Brooklyn, Latest York, apartment through the pandemic.
