PARIS — AZ Factory will showcase the work of emerging designer Lora Sonney at an event during Paris Couture Week as a part of its ongoing commitment to support recent talents, the home revealed exclusively to WWD. Following Tennessy Thoreson’s cabaret show last season, Sonney — a fellow graduate of the Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD) — will present 10 looks inspired by the nice outdoors at a show to be held on July 3 within the garden of the Fondation Cartier, which is home to AZ Factory’s atelier. His next product story, to be unveiled next month for the pre-spring 2024 season, also comes with a heightened commitment to sustainability, with the aim of making half the gathering from deadstock materials. PARIS — Hermès cut the equine-embossed ribbon on its newest leather goods factory on Friday, just days after its market cap soared past the 200 billion-euro mark. “We’ve had good results this 12 months,” chief executive officer Axel Dumas acknowledged throughout the symbolic cutting ceremony, barely underplaying the stellar sales numbers. “This development allows us to open one other leather workshop to create local jobs that export goods to the 4 corners of the world.” The in-demand Kelly model will likely be the main target of its production, in addition to being the one workshop outside of Paris that produces saddles.
