What forces will impact the sweetness industry probably the most, worker behavior or AI? The arrival of India as an emerging market, or shoppers over the age of 60? Students from the 2023 class of the Fashion Institute of Technology’s Masters in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing and Management program had a powerful answer during their two capstone presentations last week: all the above. The theses, presented in-person on Thursday, posited that the change wrought on beauty by the pandemic will only speed up. Keeping pace, the groups agreed, was essential to long-term business health. FIT Unveils Recent Addition to The Unwearable Collection
Fashioning empathy: What would the uncertainty of living with a rare skin disorder appear to be through the lens of fashion?  Pharma giant Boehringer Ingelheim tasked students from The Fashion Institute of Technology’s DTech innovation lab to reply the query with their addition to The Unwearable Collection, a line of conceptual garments made in collaboration with Dutch artist Bart Hess in 2022 to boost awareness for generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP).  The brand new design, titled “Trapped by Uncertainty,” was unveiled Tuesday evening at a personal ceremony inside FIT’s Katie Murphy Ampitheatre and takes its inspiration from firsthand accounts of those experiencing the disease. “Trapped by Uncertainty” “Flares are episodic, however the disease never goes away,” said Claudia Beqaj, executive director of dermatology, sales...

For Its Fourth 12 months, Credo Beauty’s Accelerator Program
Credo Beauty goes to school. For its fourth annual Credo for Change accelerator program, the retailer has partnered with the Fashion Institute of Technology for the primary time to supply students enrolled within the cosmetics and fragrance marketing program profession mentorship and networking access. “After we began Credo for Change, we were very focused on where the industry was underrepresented from a brand founder perspective,” said program manager Shibisha Johnson. “Now, as we begin to take into consideration not only who's on the shelf, but who's within the office, this [partnership] was the natural next place to go along with this work.” The 13-week program will kick off July 7, offering 12 Black, Indigenous, people of color students access to...
