Cosmetica Italia Assesses COVID-19 Impact on Italian Beauty Industry

MILAN — “Numbers are usually not comforting us but luckily our performance was barely higher than we expected. That is the moment to react, even when it would take us longer than we thought to return to [pre-pandemic] performances,” said Renato Ancorotti, president of the Italian association of beauty corporations Cosmetica Italia during a webinar on Wednesday. In the course of the event, the organization released preliminary data on the industry’s performance in 2020. Last 12 months, total sales of Italian cosmetics corporations were down 12.8 percent to 10.47 billion euros in comparison with 2019. La Perla Urged to Submit Business Plan by Italian Government

  MILAN — Developments for La Perla employees in Italy are at a standstill. After the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy summoned a roundtable with trade unions and representatives for the corporate on Tuesday, the latter didn’t appear to provide you with a plan. German businessman Lars Windhorst, the corporate’s owner via his London-based private equity firm Tennor, was notably absent in person and reportedly tuned in via streaming and left before its end. The meeting followed news last August that the luxurious lingerie brand had did not pay July wages to its employees, as highlighted by the Filctem-Cgil and Uiltec-Uil unions in a joint statement. La Perla Allegedly Didn’t Pay Italian Employees in August

MILAN — A month after resolving winding-up petitions filed by a pool of U.K.-based creditors, luxury lingerie brand La Perla has allegedly didn't pay its Italian staffers this month, based on a note issued by local trade unions. The Filctem-Cgil and Uiltec-Uil unions said in a joint statement that the corporate, now owned by German businessman Lars Windhorst’s private equity firm Tennor, and based in London, didn't pay wages to its Bologna, Italy-based employees this month.
