Christofle x Karl Lagerfeld Rare Flatware Set Being Auctioned

Need a piece of Karl Lagerfeld for the dinner table? How about 24 pieces? Lagerfeld was a longtime collector of Christofle, the silver specialists, as evidenced by quite a few pieces featured in his estate sales at Sotheby’s in 2021. In 2018, shortly before his death, the designer had collaborated with Christofle on the brand’s signature Mood silverware set, imbuing the distinctive egg-shaped case and flatware with a graphic, Art Deco-inspired pattern rendered in mirror-polished silver and glossy black lacquer. Just one,500 pieces were created — 1,000 with a stainless-steel case and just 500 in black lacquer — and all sold out upon their release. Carla Bruni, Roger Federer Help Unveil Karl Lagerfeld Exhibition

ALL ABOUT KARL: France’s former first lady Carla Bruni and Roger Federer turned up Monday on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s unveiling of the Costume Institute’s “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” The museum’s director Max Hollein, the Wendy Yu chief curator in charge Andrew Bolton and Condé Nast’s global content officer Anna Wintour headlined the morning press preview. The Karl Lagerfeld Hotel in Macao Officially Opens in June

The late Karl Lagerfeld’s most ambitious hospitality project, a lavish 271-room luxury hotel in Macao, will open officially in June with a multiday celebration. The project was initially unveiled in 2014, but its opening was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.
