Maesa Declares Winners of Beauty, Wellness Incubator Program –

Hair removal skincare brand Fuzz Clinic, fragrance brand House of Foster and South Asian-inspired skin and hair care brand Squigs Beauty have won the The Maesa Magic Incubator, each being awarded a $35,000 grant. Maesa, the incubator behind Flower Beauty by Drew Barrymore, TPH by Taraji P. Henson and Kristen Ess Hair, amongst others, launched the annual program for early-stage entrepreneurs in July. It’s designed for early-stage beauty and wellness consumer packaged goods founder, who're either within the pre/early-launch phase or have achieved lower than $100,000 in sales to-date.  This system offers a 12-week intensive curriculum, specifically tailored to bring their respective brand visions to life, in addition to admission into the “Way forward for Commerce and Work” program, hosted by the Emerson Group, positioned on-site at...

Kristin Ess Files Lawsuit Against Maesa – WWD

Kristin Ess Celebrity hairstylist and social media influencer Kristin Ess is suing beauty brand incubator Maesa to reclaim her rights to her eponymous brand, and be free from “unreasonable restraints” on her business. Ess, the cofounder of educational site Thebeautydepartment.com who codeveloped the Kristin Ess Hair line in partnership with Maesa and launched exclusively in Goal in 2017, revealed the lawsuit in a series of Instagram posts. “I'm suing my partners for several reasons, but the first one being that I used to be misled during this partnership,” she wrote. “They sold themselves to me as a beauty brand incubator, touting their ability to launch, grow [and] eventually sell my brand to make sure its continued success.
