LONDON — It’s been a frenetic six months for Martine Rose, who made her international debut on the January edition of Pitti Uomo and is following it up with three big collaborations at Stüssy, Clarks and Nike.
In April, she took a swerve at Stüssy, designing car-themed accessories, including a fuzzy leopard print steering-wheel cover. More recently, as Clarks’ first guest creative director, Rose put a colourful spin on a series of classics, which debuted throughout the designer’s spring 2024 runway show here on Sunday night.
Working with Clarks felt right on every level, said Rose during an interview at her north London studio.

LONDON — Martine Rose is British shoe manufacturer Clarks’ first guest creative director.
“Clarks is something that’s so intrinsic to British culture and clearly Jamaican culture since it’s huge in Jamaica due to Commonwealth. There’s a few British brands which are really big in Jamaica because Britishness is an indication of quality and you're taking it out of context it takes on a lifetime of its own, like a myth,” Rose told WWD in an interview, sitting in her north London studio as she readies her upcoming men’s show in June, where her designs for Clarks will debut on the runway and on sale from March 2024.

British clothier Martine Rose is renewing her passion for the art of driving with a capsule collection with cult street brand Stüssy.
Launching Friday, the cross-pollination features T-shirts with Stüssy’s classic “Stand Firm” text and a hoodie with a graphic treatment, in addition to a fake leopard fur steering wheel cover; driving gloves; an air freshener; a co-branded automotive mat set; a fringed flag, and a collaged windscreen.

The capsule is accompanied by a series of images shot inside, or next to, a automotive, showcasing items from the gathering, in addition to depicting Rose’s signature laid-back urban cool that has won her quite a few fans, including Drake.
