Balmain is all set for beach getaways. Saks will launch an exclusive beach-themed capsule collection by Balmain on Tuesday. It can also unveil its first handbag shop-in-shop on the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship in Recent York. The Balmain Beach capsule consists of girls’s and men’s ready-to-wear, handbags and shoes created exclusively for Saks. The gathering was inspired by Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing’s memories of summer escapes to beaches within the South of France while growing up in Bordeaux. Playing on a number of the hottest looks from recent Balmain collections, the capsule blends house signatures with the spirit of a European beach getaway. Mara Sirhal is joining Saks Off fifth within the newly created role of chief merchant and brand officer by which she's going to oversee buying, planning and inventive functions. She was executive vp, brand president for the Bed Bath & Beyond and Harmon Beauty businesses. Sara Griffin has been appointed chief marketing and analytics officer. On this latest role, Griffin will oversee customer analytics, insights and engagement, personalization and loyalty, growth marketing, corporate strategy and business development. Amid the volatile macroeconomic environment, luxury customers have gotten more “deliberate and value-focused” of their spending. They’re also shifting discretionary dollars more toward wear-to-work clothes and fashion for dining out and parties, and pulling back spending on casual clothes, sneakers and purses.
