EXCLUSIVE: AZ Factory to Showcase Young Designer Lora Sonney

PARIS — AZ Factory will showcase the work of emerging designer Lora Sonney at an event during Paris Couture Week as a part of its ongoing commitment to support recent talents, the home revealed exclusively to WWD. Following Tennessy Thoreson’s cabaret show last season, Sonney — a fellow graduate of the Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD) — will present 10 looks inspired by the nice outdoors at a show to be held on July 3 within the garden of the Fondation Cartier, which is home to AZ Factory’s atelier. Historic Swiss manufacturer Jakob Schlaepfer, where Sonney is a textile designer, will support the material research for the project, it added. Louis Vuitton Showcase in L.A.; Paris Protests Hit LVMH Offices

Crafting Dreams: Louis Vuitton is in Los Angeles presenting “Crafting Dreams,” a group of objects and goods. Opened on Wednesday and available for visits until May 3, access is by appointment only at a non-public residence. Visitors can expect Objets Nomades, hard-sided trunks, watches, positive jewelry and one-of-a-kind leather goods. They’ll be on view with showcases of special collaborations by the French house and various creatives throughout the years. Paris Museum to Showcase Azzedine Alaïa’s Collection of Vintage

TREASURE TROVE: Palais Galliera is staging one other Azzedine Alaïa retrospective this yr — only this time, it should focus not on his own designs, but on his vast personal collection of high fashion garments. Titled “Azzedine Alaïa, couturier collectionneur” (“Azzedine Alaïa: Couturier, collector,”) the exhibition will run on the Paris City Hall-backed fashion museum from Sept. 27 until Jan. 21, 2024. This follows an Alaïa retrospective held on the museum in 2013 to coincide with its reopening after 4 years of renovations. The show will draw on an archive of 20,000 garments amassed by the late Tunisian designer, said Olivier Saillard, director of the Association Azzedine Alaïa and curator of the exhibition.
