Rooftop Soiree Raises Funds in Support of LIM Students
On the rooftop of a Manhattan residential constructing Wednesday evening, it was all about cocktails, industry chatter and, most significantly, showing support for the LIM Fashion Education Foundation. Retail and fashion executives and school and students from LIM turned out for the event where Jennifer Foyle, president and executive creative officer of American Eagle and Aerie, and Michele Parsons, the chief merchandising officer of Kate Spade, were presented with LIM’s inaugural “Fashion Forward” awards. The evening raised greater than $60,000, drew about 100 supporters and likewise celebrated LIM FEF’s forty fifth anniversary. Closely Crafted Goals to Support the Next Generation of Craftspeople
The word is getting out about Closely Crafted. The organization was founded by milliner and accessories designer Gigi Burris O’Hara in the course of the pandemic with a mission to coach and train up-and-coming talent to preserve craftsmanship within the American fashion industry. The impetus for the group’s creation got here after Burris O’Hara watched so many other Recent York City-based factories close, resulting in a dearth of artisans for each her business and others. Raisefashion Holds First In-person Event to Support BIPOC Creatives
Raisefashion, a corporation dedicated to the advancement of creatives who're Black, Indigenous, or People of Color, celebrated the importance of community and programs that support up-and-comers with its first in-person event Tuesday night. Nearly 200 people attended what turned out to be a standing-room-only gathering at Soho House, in line with a post-event e-mail from the nonprofit’s founder Felita Harris. The organization was founded in 2020, following the police murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis and the Black Lives Matter movement. With Harris on the helm, Raisefashion provides mentorship, resources and industry access to enhance the equity of Black, Indigenous or People of Color individuals.
