Famed Mystery Author James Patterson Gives Hundreds of thousands

James Patterson has gained wealth and fortune creating tales of suspense. But it surely’s no mystery that the author’s latest move is geared toward the greater good of BIPOC communities. It was recently reported that Patterson donated $1.3 million to Howard University for 12 James Patterson Author Education Scholarships, price $10,000 each for the current academic 12 months, and to the Iowa Writers’ Workshop for 14 fellowships allocated to 11 fiction writers and three poets. “I used to be brought up to present back — so my mother and grandmother should get the praise here,” Patterson said in an announcement as reported by USA Today. “I’ve dedicated my profession to getting as many individuals to like books as possible. Publish Dictionary Of African American English Paul Marotta/ GETTY IMAGES Publish Dictionary Of African American English Oxford University Press and Harvard University are collaborating to create the Oxford Dictionary of African American English (ODAAE). Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Director of Harvard University’s Hutchins Center for African and American Research, will provide editorial guidance to Oxford because it develops a dictionary dedicated to African American Vernacular English (AAVE). “African American English has had a profound impact on the world’s most generally spoken language, yet much of it has been obscured,” Casper Grathwohl, President of Oxford Languages at Oxford University Press said in a written statement. “The ODAAE seeks to acknowledge this contribution more fully and formally and, in doing so, create a strong tool for a...

‘This Is Terrorism’: Howard University Students Forced To Evacuate

Drew Angerer/Getty Images Bomb threats forced Howard University students to evacuate the college’s campus twice in 48 hours last week, just as they returned to high school to begin the autumn semester.  The 2 bomb threats come just months after the college and other Historically Black Colleges and Universities needed to lock down or delay the beginning of classes because of comparable threats. Two on-campus residence halls, East and West Towers, were evacuated early Friday morning as a result of the anonymous threats made to the Washington, DC, school, CNN reports.  The local police department and campus police conducted a sweep of the dorms with K-9 units, in response to WUSA9.
