First launched 10 years ago, clean beauty brand Haeckels is decided to provide skincare in a more responsible way. “The following step of the sweetness industry is taking sustainability off of the shopper and just presenting an answer,” Charlie Vickery, the brand’s managing director, tells Clara Amfo in the newest episode of BMW and British Vogue’s The Extra Mile series. After making its name by creating products using handpicked seaweed off the coast of Margate, Haeckels is now starting to show to other materials too. “It’s not nearly seaweed anymore: we use mushrooms, we’re pioneering other materials,” Vickery continues. “The seaweed that now we have is a natural resource – over-harvesting can obviously have a detrimental impact on the environment.” The wonder...
