Setchu Wins the 2023 LVMH Prize for Young Designers

PARIS — Setchu by Satoshi Kuwata, an industry veteran who has worked for everybody from a Savile Row tailor to luxury sneakers brand Golden Goose, on Wednesday won the 2023 edition of the LVMH Prize for Young Designers at a star-studded ceremony in Paris marking the tenth anniversary of the award.  Milan-based Kuwata beat some 2,400 applicants from 15 countries to walk away with a grand prize of 400,000 euros, plus a 12 months of coaching from experts at luxury giant LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, parent of brands including Vuitton, Guerlain, Dom Pérignon and Sephora.  “I used to be a very naughty boy and my mom was really nervous about me, and now I could make my mom really completely happy,”...

Daseul Choi Wins Polimoda Competition Think Bag, in Collaboration

CELEBRATING BAGS: The ultimate event of the Think Bag competition, sponsored by Leather & Luxury magazine and the Florentine leather goods company Loipell, was held Wednesday in Florence on the Villa Favard campus. The competition involved the scholars of the master in bag design on the Florence-based fashion and design institute Polimoda. Japanese Ceramicist Eriko Inazaki Wins Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2023

The Loewe Foundation hosted a night of intricate craft at The Noguchi Museum in Queens, Recent York on Tuesday night, culminating in Japanese ceramicist Eriko Inazaki winning the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize for 2023. “The explanation why I selected this location is I’ve been at Loewe for 10 years now and after I first did a show for Loewe, I did it at Unesco in Paris. Lagos Space Programme Wins International Woolmark Prize

PARIS — Adeju Thompson’s label Lagos Space Programme was named the winner of the 2023 International Woolmark Prize at a ceremony hosted on the Petit Palais in Paris on Monday. The Nigerian designer will receive a money prize of 200,000 Australian dollars, or $134,000, the chance to be stocked at top fashion retailers, and business mentorship.
