Ashunta Sheriff is the makeup artist of all makeup artists. With over 20 years in the sport, Sheriff has beat the faces of stars like Mary J. Blidge, Alicia Keys and can also be the go-to artist for Taraji P Henson.

At this 12 months’s ESSENCE festival Sheriff shared her legendary secrets for easy glowing skin. Keep scrolling to get the following tips, just in time for summer! 

1. All the things starts with base 

When creating flawless glowy skin Sheriff says all of it starts with a terrific base. Before adding fun things like foundation or daring lips, it’s imperative to get skin in tip-toe shape.  “A  good base includes primer, a tiny little bit of shimmer and a touch of highlight,” she shares. 

2. Start inward and mix out 

Have you ever ever finished your foundation only to appreciate it’s a bit too heavy? Well, thankfully Sheriff has a terrific tip for ensuring that never happens again. “I like to start out with a matte foundation and all the time make certain to use it to the back of my hand first,” Sheriff says. 

In terms of the applying, apply the product to the middle of face first and use a brush, or fingers, to mix outward. Sheriff prefers this approach to application because the vast majority of the product finally ends up where you would like it most and prevents it looking too heavy or cakey.  

3. Your neck is major key 

Sheriff wants all women to recollect how necessary their necks are when creating a brilliant flawless look. It could actually be easy to forget how necessary mixing your foundation is. “Ensure that to bring the inspiration down your neck,” she shares. 

4. Uptown, downtown, crosstown 

In terms of mascara Sheriff has coined the term uptown, downtown and crosstown. First apply in an upward motion, then downward after which across the lashes. Sheriff says applying the product like this will provide you with the fullest lashes possible.
