As someone with thick, unruly hair, I’ve at all times relied on the results of a great hot tool to style and smooth my strands. I’m a Shark HyperAIR Hair Dryer obsessive, a GHD Platinum Plus Styler devotee, and most recently, a mega-fan of the Beachwaver Rotating Curling Iron. The device is TikTok-famous for a way it creates that fresh-from-the-salon look — be it beachy waves or glamorous curls — minus the in-person visit.
Admittedly, I received a Beachwaver S1 in White as a present a couple of years back, but had never taken the literal five minutes to determine learn how to use it. And after scrolling past the nth video of an influencer raving about it, I unearthed it from under the sink and put it to the test. Ahead, I break down every thing you should know in regards to the Beachwaver, including what makes it special, learn how to use it, and, most significantly, when you need it in your beauty routine.

Beachwaver Curling Iron: An Overview
Beachwaver was founded in 2010 by hairstylist Sarah Potempa and her sisters Erin Potempa-Wall and Emily Potempa. What distinguishes it from other curling irons is its patented rotating barrel technology. While other irons require you to manually wrap your hair across the barrel — risking some burns along the best way when you aren’t careful — the Beachwaver doesn’t. As a substitute, you only clamp the underside of your hair to the tool, press a button, and the barrel spins, curling your hair for you.
There are several various kinds of Beachwaver Curling Irons in a wide range of sizes and colorways (including special-edition irons and bundles, just like the B1 in Black Glitter released in association with Christine Quinn). I tested the S1 Dual Voltage White Rotating Iron in White which is considered one of the brand’s hottest models.
How I Tested It
Beachy waves are already type of my signature, so I first simply swapped the Beachwaver in for my usual curling on a Sunday once I had a bit more time to practice. Though the primary run went fairly easily, it wasn’t until my third time using the tool that I felt 100% comfortable with it — and fully ready to offer my review.
