The Glazed Eyeshadow Trend Is Makeup’s Response to the

Your first thought whenever you hear the word “glazed” probably has to do with donuts — but in the wonder world, the adjective has created a world of its own. It began with Hailey Bieber’s glazed nails, a pale pink manicure topped with a lightweight iridescent finish. And since almost every popular nail look (including designs like ombre, aura, and French manicures) has already received the glazed effect, it was time for the trend to maneuver on up. (We do mean this literally.) Glazed eyeshadow is the newest makeup trend aglow this summer.

Unlike shimmery or metallic eyeshadow where flecks of glitter are what’s sparkling, the chrome-inspired makeup has a rather wet-looking shine that sets it apart. The gleaming finish is harking back to that very same dewy glow you get from layering super-hydrating serums in your skin.

It Girls have already given it their stamp of approval. Bieber wore it paired with rosy lips and cheeks on a recent trip to London, and Hailee Steinfeld wore a lavender version that completely matched her dress in the identical shade. Makeup artist Ash K Holmwho glazed Steinfeld’s eyelids, loves the “luminous and dreamy effect” the look adds to makeup. “It catches the sunshine beautifully and adds an opulent yet playful element,” says Holm.
