Verdin Bridal Couture is the Modern Bride’s Dream Come True

Born in Mexico and raised within the U.S., Gustavo Nunez, Mexican American designer and founding father of Verdin Latest York, has been a student of the industry all his life.

Now a member of the Bridal Council of America, Nunez’s lifelong relationship with fashion began at a really young age, inspired while watching his mother design women’s apparel in Guadalajara, Mexico. With goals to attain the American Dream, Nunez moved to Los Angeles to get a level in fashion design on the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandizing (FIDM) before moving to Latest York to pursue his own profession in fashion.

As Nunez took on roles in leading couture houses, including Marchesa and Reem Acra amongst others, he became known for his craftsmanship, impeccable garment construction and timeless silhouettes.

When Verdin Latest York, named after Nunez’s mother, Maria, launched it was a real appreciation for all the experiences and inspiration that shaped Nunez. The designer’s love of his Mexican culture combines with technical spirit in his designs that talk to the trendy bride. His designs update the ideas of beauty and elegance and be certain that within the making of each gown the main focus is on prime quality materials, the cut, the most effective fit and refined finishes.

Here, Nunez speaks to Fairchild Studio about his 30 years of experience in the style industry, the evolution of Verdin Latest York and what’s next for the brand.

Fairchild Studio: Are you able to tell us about your start as a designer with over 30 years of experience in the style industry and what prompted you to begin your individual bridal brand?

Gustavo Nunez: Once I first arrived in Latest York in 1995, I began as a pattern maker and designer’s assistant in a personal label company. After that, I became the atelier manager for Rebeca Taylor and was a production director for corporations corresponding to Marchesa and Reem Acra, amongst others.

In the course of the pandemic I used to be inspired to vary direction – I used to be at home for nearly three months and I couldn’t sit at home waiting for COVID to go away so I took the moment to design bridal.

Bridal design is something that I’ve desired to do since designing my sister’s and friend’s wedding gowns. I loved the experience. I had also just gotten married the 12 months before and had my very own wedding experience to contemplate. While the world modified, I knew that brides were still going to get married. Weddings could be getting smaller or postponed but they must be dressed for a very powerful day of their lives to walk down the aisle.

I made a decision to begin by designing ten wedding gowns and show them to the salons I had all the time dreamed I could have designs in and see where it may lead me. Today, Verdin Bridal Couture Fashion House is predicated in Latest York Garment District.

Fairchild Studio: Verdin Bridal Latest York remains to be just two years old, in that point how has the corporate evolved?

G.N.: The change has been in my designs. I began by bringing the world of sportswear to bridal and slowly has been evolving to what I actually love.

Fairchild Studio: How would you describe that design aesthetic that you just’ve come to like?

G.N.: With my bridal collection I’m beginning to be known for light, ethereal and romantic gowns. My designs are light and romantic with contemporary silhouettes with ethereal detailing, I take advantage of handmade embroideries, Italian laces, silk brocades and exquisite textures of textured fabrics. I oversee your entire process from the drape to the last bead or stitch.

Fairchild Studio: What’s the inspiration behind your recent collection?

G.N.: This season’s collection was inspired by my last trip to Italy ¬– the gorgeous architecture, fountains and gardens. I desired to create a light-weight and romantic collection, the gowns are named after Italian cities and towns.

One among my favorite designs from the gathering is a gown comprised of beautiful Italian lace. It has a light-weight construct corset with 3D flowers that seem like an Italian garden.

Fairchild Studio: What’s next for Verdin?

G.N.: This season we’re launching the Verdin Blanche collection which offers bridal gowns at a lower cost point.

As for the long run, we’re enthusiastic about more expansion! I showed my first collection at Fall of 2021 and my collection was picked up by Bergdorf Goodman in NY, Ultimate Bride in Chicago, amongst others. Since then, we have now continued to open recent salons every season and would really like to proceed doing so. We are actually in probably the most exclusive salons in the US, Japan, Korea and the Middle East. Next, we might like to be in Latin America, Europe and the remainder of the world!

“Being in trunk shows everywhere in the country last 12 months, I noticed that the lower cost point is highly regarded and I desired to create some designs that will help us expand to other markets on the earth corresponding to Mexico and Latin America and Europe,” said Nunez.

Furthermore, Gustavo Nunez, designer and founding father of Verdin Latest York, acknowledged that the gathering was created to maintain up with the changing trends and evolving needs of the market. “I desired to keep evolving as a designer, so I needed to create a group that understands the market,” he said. “I feel that we want to maintain evolving because the market also changes.”

Importantly, Nunez stressed that the Verdin Blanche collection can be carrying on the romantic, couture aesthetic he has created with Verdin’s fundamental line, using light stretch crepes, satins, organza, laces and a little bit beading.
