CorePower Yoga is teaming up with Matthew McConaughey’s nonprofit Just Keep Livin Foundation to supply fitness education to high schoolers.
Just Keep Livin Foundation was founded by McConaughey and his wife Camila McConaughey to supply after school fitness and mindfulness programming to inner city schools — the organization currently works with 3,000 students across 43 schools and sites within the U.S.
“We have now a mission of constructing yoga accessible and available,” said CorePower Yoga chief executive officer Niki Leondakis, noting the corporate previously worked with Yoga Foster, a youth-oriented yoga nonprofit. “What Just Keep Livin does could be very much aligned with that.”
Through the partnership, CorePower Yoga will offer educational resources around fitness and mindfulness to Just Keep Livin Foundation teachers and students.
“We might be the Just Keep Livin [Foundation] resource for yoga as a part of their curriculum, offering each mindfulness and yoga education to students on the Just Keep Livin partner high schools across the country,” Leondakis said. “Participating teachers at those schools can have access to a curated collection of CorePower Yoga on-demand classes through complimentary CorePowerat-home digital memberships that we’re providing them.”
Just Keep Livin Foundation teachers can have access to greater than 300 flows, classes and meditations through the platform. Annually, CorePower may also provide a 200-hour yoga teacher training scholarship to a few teachers and three graduating seniors at Just Keep Livin Foundation schools.
CorePower Yoga may also work with the organization on their annual field days, where students from several schools come together for activities nationwide. While CorePower Yoga participated on this yr’s events, the corporate plans to expand its presence at future events.
“We’re going to be [there] in a rather more amplified way hosting classes taught by our teachers, providing giveaways for college students and doing other community constructing activities,” Leondakis said.
Similarly, CorePower Yoga teachers have shown interest in getting more involved with the faculties, based on Leondakis.
“Where we have now studios which can be in the identical markets as schools, we might be having teachers go to the faculties and teach classes as well,” she said.
In an effort to focus on Just Keep Livin Foundation, CorePower Yoga will work with their team to create additional content. For instance, CorePower Yoga might be sharing an interview with Camila McConaughey on their blog site to spread awareness on Just Keep Livin Foundation’s work.
