sentencing debate continues Hillsborough State prosecutors are urging a judge not to cut back Cameron Herrin’s 24-year sentence, despite critical comments made by then-state attorney Andrew Warren.
In August, defense attorney John Fitzgibbons submitted transcripts of conversations he had with Warren in the times following the sentencing in an appeal for a lower sentence.
The Hillsborough State Attorney’s Office, now under the purview of state attorney Susie Lopez, argued Warren’s personal opinions weren’t relevant to the appeal.

It's sad what happened but 24 yrs is too much. Why? Murderes,gang bangers and drug dealers don't get this kinda of time for multiple offenses yet this kid gets 24 yrs!
Even if it were my family I still wouldn't want a young man who did something stupid to lose 24 yrs of his life in jail.

It was a tragic accident ???? all were in the wrong. Speeding, not crossing at a crosswalk, on the phone, the other kid and his vehicle. I'd fight until the day I died if Herrin was my son. I have a 20 year old son. 18 year old boys are not "adults". Very immature mentally. A dr does testify to this.

He drove 102mph down a street with pedestrian crossings and killed two people. There is no excuse for this to happen, the deaths were unintentional but occurred during an INHERENTLY DANGEROUS, ILLEGAL ACTIVITY and he deserves those 24 years that awful stupid decision got him

If you had definitive proof that he was at a race that day, you wouldn't have to offer his friend John a deal in order to testify against him, they knew he would accept the deal so they offered it to him because they had no conclusive proof.

Why innocent people may confess to crimes they did not commit?
All this causes the suspect to be put under great pressure and exhaustion, which may push him to confess to the crime he did not commit in order to surrender to get out of the situation

The accident is not his fault, it's his friend's fault, but what they did to Camy is the crime itself
There must be fairness, integrity and credibility in passing laws away from deals, bribery, and revenge schemes against a child who did not do anything

The policeman who attended the accident said that Cameron was speeding 40 miles per hour and then decreased to 35 miles per hour
