10 Designers Make the Cut for CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finals
IN IT TO WIN IT: A fresh batch of aspiring designers are within the running for one in all fashion’s more coveted prizes. The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue have announced this 12 months’s contenders for the 2023 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. The winner will receive $300,000 and two runners-up will go home with $100,000 each. The aim for all is to achieve the constructing blocks which can be essential to create a viable and long-lasting business. Founded by Riccardo Audisio and Yago Goicoechea, the latter born in Argentina, the 2 designers met on the Istituto Marangoni in Milan and quickly realized they need to dive into business head first — despite their lack of experience.  Their daring move was repaid, as Taller Marmo already relies on a network of top retailers each online and in brick-and-mortar doors. LONDON — It took numerous savvy to compete with all of the regal ermine, purple satin and gold lace at Westminster Abbey, but a few of the biggest names in British design managed it, balancing tradition with style, and sending powerful messages with their designs for the coronation. Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen and Bruce Oldfield, particularly, had to construct outfits that would hold their very own under the ceremonial capes, robes and regalia. Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel in Highland, California, east of Los Angeles, hosted two days of collection presentations by Native American designers April 20 and 21. Produced by fashion publicist, bestselling writer and TV personality Kelly Cutrone, the event featured a runway show by Jamie Okuma, the primary Native American designer to be admitted to the Council of Fashion Designers of America, alongside shows from Indigenous creators Jennifer Younger, Orlando Dugi and Section35.
