Athletic Cosmetic Company Desires to Construct The ‘Athbeauty’ Category
“It’s type of this look-good-feel-good mentality,” said Athletic Cosmetic Company cofounder Kate Solomon. After selling her plant-based skincare brand Babo Botanicals to Mustela in 2018, Solomon — who previously accomplished stints at L’Oréal and LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton — decided she’d take a break from the sweetness business. That was, until her teenage son enrolled in Florida’s elite sport training academy, Club Med Academies, to play competitive tennis. “That’s type of where this concept blossomed — this cross-intersection between beauty and fitness,” said Solomon. Such was the genesis of Athletic Cosmetic Company, the sweetness veteran’s latest enterprise developed alongside Club Med Academies cofounder and former skilled Dutch tennis player, Dominique van Boekel. Launching Oct. 2 with a $42 hyaluronic gel...

The Top 10 Fitness Modalities Booked on Mindbody –
The long run of fitness is all about functional movement.  As in-studio fitness class bookings reach pre-pandemic levels, in response to data from wellness booking platform Mindbody, a latest crop of trends is arising. Following the pandemic, fitness became less about weight reduction and aesthetics, and more about supporting mental well-being. Mara Is Launching Its First Body Care Product, a
Mara is entering body care.  The brand, founded by Allison McNamara, is launching its Sea Sculpt Body Oil, $68, on Tuesday. This might be Mara’s first launch because it began selling at Sephora in January. “Body was such a natural extension for Mara, especially being an oil-based brand. It’s all the time been something that I desired to do,” McNamara said, who was also inspired by her recent beach wedding. “When my wife desired to get married on the beach, I used to be like, ‘You realize what, that is the youngest I’m ever going to be. I would like to look nearly as good as I can for this’ and in order that’s how I actually got into body care and using...

D.S. & Durga Introduces Tennis-themed Fragrance Ahead of U.S.
D.S. & Durga’s next serve is a limited-edition, tennis-themed fragrance. Launching Tuesday ahead of the U.S. Open, Crush Balls retails for $280 for a 50-ml. bottle and features notes of green grass, rosemarin, white cotton and hedge flowers. “There’s something so inexplicable concerning the feeling of just smashing a ball with a racket versus, say, throwing a ball hard or hitting one with a bat — you might have to be so good at baseball to try this,” said D.S. & Durga cofounder David Moltz, who's more of a racquetball guy himself (the courts in Bed-Stuy’s Herbert Von King Park are his go-to spot) but whose wife and cofounder Kavi Moltz hails from a tennis family. “I’ve desired to do a...
