Guerlain, Angelina Jolie, UNESCO launch Second Women for Bees

In honor of World Bee Day, Guerlain’s second cohort of its Women for Bees program in partnership with UNESCO and Angelina Jolie has been launched.  This recent phase of the initiative will happen within the villages of Siem Reap, Cambodia, where 11 trainees will find out about beekeeping, a practice that's integral to wildlife preservation. Jolie, who founded her organization, the MJP Foundation, in Cambodia in 2003, has worked since to assist develop Cambodian communities and preserve their natural resources.  Said Jolie on the importance of beekeeping in an announcement, “It's one strategy to provide a livelihood for families that's flexible, sustainable and balances forest conservation with providing for the community.” With bees being an endangered species, Guerlain and its partners aim to...

Violette Serrat to Create Guerlain Makeup: EXCLUSIVE

PARIS — Violette Serrat will grow to be the brand new creative director of makeup for Guerlain, WWD has learned. The news confirms a WWD report on July 16. On Aug. 1, Serrat, who goes by her first name professionally, will step into the position held for the past 21 years by Olivier Echaudemaison on the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton-owned house. For Serrat, accepting the role at Guerlain was obvious. “It’s just like the history of our country,” she said, of the practically 200-year-old house, during an exclusive interview with WWD. “It’s really deep within the roots of my story. Guerlain Is Entering Hair Care

ROYAL TREATMENT:  Guerlain is entering the hair care sector, starting June 15, with the launch of its Abeille Royale Scalp and Hair Collection. The brand new line is an offshoot of the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton-owned house’s Abeille Royale skincare range, with products containing honey from bees positioned on the island of Ouessant. The hair care products include the Revitalizing and Fortifying Shampoo, and Repairing and Replumping Care Conditioner, each going for $82; the Double D Radiance and Repair Hair Mask, priced at $93, and a Hair Care Brush for $169 that was developed with Japan’s S-Heart-S, and inspired by shiatsu techniques. Guerlain Launches $27,000 Limited-edition Bee Bottle – WWD

Guerlain is paying homage to its most distinctive flacon. The French perfumery house has joined with glassmaker Aristide Najean to honor the one hundred and seventieth anniversary of its bee bottle with a fantastical Murano glass limited-edition flacon housing the brand’s Le Bouquet de la Mariée fragrance. Launching May 1 on Guerlain’s website, it incorporates sculptural flowers flecked with pure gold, delicately arranged to seem as if they're pouring out of the flacon; like with the unique iteration, golden bees adorn the outside. The middle of the bottle displays the date April 30, 1853 — the day the bee bottle was born.
